Firsts

The past few days have brought us a few "firsts".
1. First time Kaitlyn was introduced to the beloved Jumpy. Like her brother, it took her about 5 seconds to realize how super fun this contraption was. Now, it's the only thing she wants to be in. Even when she's in her saucer, she's crashing it trying to bounce. James is a-ok with his sister's new toy once it passed the tractor test (that is, anything is acceptable if he can still drive his tractor around it).

2. Kaitlyn turned 5 months on mommy's birthday. Now we were hoping for the first tooth but it has still yet to pop thru. Just be careful passing any hand, arm or face past Kaitlyn's mouth because she is sure to grab hold and shove whatever she can into her mouth and begin chomping.

3. The first trip to the ER for James. This frightful event happend on mom's watch while we prepared for Mr Turtle school. James lost his footing while maneuvering past Kaitlyn's toys and smashed his chin against the frame of the couch. Instant swelling and loss of jaw opening ability prompted us to pay the dentist a visit and then proceed to the ER. Thankfully, there were no chipped teeth or broken bones. Just a very sore little boy. It didn't end on a bad note though, Daddy came home from work that night with some beloved characters from the movie Cars to cheer up the boy.

Winter Wonder

We took time on Friday to get out and enjoy the little amount of snow we did get from the 2 day storm that actually brought us more rain than snow. (and another reminder that our basement is still not fixed :-( ) So we took the entire family out for some romping in the white stuff. Kaitlyn really enjoyed the trip and laughed at her brothers (you decide who we're referring to with this plural!) Other than the snow, we've been busy with trips to storytime and Mr Turtle school - the 2 year version of preschool w/ mom. Kaitlyn is making herself known and becoming much more of an active member of the family. She "talks" constantly and James is always asking what she is saying and giggling at all her noises. We're hoping to finally see teeth come thru after many weeks of chomping and drooling (from Kaitlyn that is). If she's anything like big brother, we'll see 'em soon!

The blizzard that wasn't

we waited...and waited...and waited some more but the great snow never came. I dont think the boys missed it too much, a few inches is all they needed for an afternoon of fun!

end of january...

The end of January brought us...Kaitlyn giggling, James getting a new hat and new fondness for his sunglasses, lots of time to play, a decision about preschool and the dreaded flooded basement. It also brought lots of weekends home with the family cooking feasts, cozy-ing up by the fire and oodles of laundry. (adding just one more person seems to have added 3xs the amount of laundry. Most likely due to that one little person's ability to spit up what seems to be buckets). Here comes February, longer days and hopefully not too many more cold days, we can't wait for spring!
The twosome laying around together

James taking a break from holding Kaitlyn's hands and trying to stop her from chewing on her shirt.
The new hat = the new look
Closer look, Bono glasses?
James was certain that dad fell down the pipe in the basement once the carpet came out. Here he is calling in desperation for his dad: "Dad!! You down there? I'll go get fireman sam to save you!"

mid 3 months...

We are enjoying our winter! Quick update - Kaitlyn is doing a lot of talking and drooling. She's gotten interested in toys and we've even tested her out in the excersaucer. Another week perhaps and she'll be able to hang out in there unassisted. We wonder if she'll get her teeth early like her brother. Unlike her brother though, she SLEEPS and only complains about life when she's tired or hungry. James is making us laugh with all his "two-isms". He's now in his full-sized big boy bed which he proclaimed was "just perfect" the first time he got into it. He is getting ready to visit another preschool this week and, by the beginning of February, he will be signed up for the September start date (a month before his sister turns ONE). Very surreal how fast time goes by...

Kaitlyn's Baptism

We were blessed on Sunday to celebrate our Kaitlyn's Baptism. It was a beautiful day for a beautiful little girl. Unlike her brother James during his Baptism, Kaitlyn was a perfect sweet angel for both the ceremony and the party that followed. We feel so blessed to have such a happy and healthy family and thank everyone for their love and support!

Kaitlyn is very lucky to have such wonderful Godparents who love her so much! Thank you Alison and Barry.
