MIA...catch up

Kaitlyn's update: 17 months old, talking up a storm. Isn't surprising to us as she has always been a little girl who knows what she wants. Once she realized there were other ways to get it besides yell, she caught on quick! First word was "baby" but now she says everything from "tractor" (surprised??) to "pretzel". She loves books, but not really reading them per se, mainly looking at the pictures asking "dat?" She loves her dog and her brother and treats them equally. I.e. they both get their fair share of being walloped when she is cranky. Cranky you are thinking? That little sweet face?? Kaitlyn is a strong willed little girl and makes it very clear her intentions. Sometimes we say, "Kaitlyn rules our roost." Nicknames include: baby KK (thank you Emma), Kitten and our recent favorite The Wrecking Ball. She can tear apart a room in less than 2 minutes before moving on to another victim. Be it either the puzzle on the floor or the toilet paper roll in the bathroom. Kaitlyn takes after Spiderman...climbs on anything and everything. All the time. She is having a ball at Tumble class and wishes she could go to school with James. We love her long bear hugs, her quiet sweet singing of Rock a bye Baby and her own song "Mommy mommy mommy!" Her mischievous ways keep us on her toes but that's our Kaitlyn. And we love her sparky ways!

James update: 3 1/2, full swing into preschool. They call him The Mayor. He is the biggest outgoing chatterbox around. The teacher told mom to always nuture this zest for life. Other moms want his autograph before he goes into show biz or public office. He is the happiest, most easy going little guy we know. He aims to please. He doesn't go a day without telling you he loves you, atleast 10 times. He understands that "Kaitlyn just doesn't know any better." He calls his sister "cutie" in the sweetest voice when she is upset. His schedule is packed with school, soccer, gymnastics, adventure sports class and play dates. All that while still maintaining his avid love of all things tractors and trucks and construction. Mom loves how much he has grown up these past few months: he helps out around the house, feeds the dog, clears his plate, brushes his teeth, doesnt need bathroom help (huge for mom!) and throws FAR fewer tantrums than before. We love this age and are told it only gets better!

happy bubbles

The kids take a bubble bath almost every night. Sometimes it's at 5pm to set the moods right before dinner, sometimes it's right before bed. Either way, the bath together is not only a time saver, but a lot of fun! They will hate us someday for this :-)

is anyone still out there?

MIA Blogger, mainly thanks to the virus on the laptop. Christmas preparations are in full swing. Tree is up and decorated...and undecorated...and redecorated. (this will be a daily pattern we think, thanks to Kaitlyn) Our elf is watching every move James makes, a blessing for mom.
Kaitlyn is growing thanks to the ten tons of milk she is drinking these days. She needs to keep up with her brother. Climbing is a new pasttime of Kaitlyn's, as is yelling (at everyone) and teasing James. We think she needs to learn to talk pronto. Her favorite words are baby, ball, brodie, boppa, mamama, daddadada, chips (a true Plona there) and cheers. Happy to report that the nights of little to no sleep are far behind us! We heard it would happen someday and it seems our day has finally come.
Hope to post more again soon...

October...Happy Halloween!

Busy month: visiting lots of farms, dressing up as super heros and animals for Halloween and growing up too quick! Note - yes, James was supposed to be Buzz Lightyear but after a month of wearing the costume every day around the house and to 2 other parties, and the snug fit of said costume, a quick trip to a consignment shop yielded a $4 super cool green space ranger suit that could fit warm clothes underneath! And miss Kaitlyn enjoyed her snuggly warm zebra suit on the cold night. It was so much fun trick or treating on Main Street with cousins William and Julia, aunt Kelly and uncle Frank and Grandma and Grandpa. We love this holiday tradition.
Our CSA farm share is over for the year, hayrides and pumpkin patches are closed and we are gearing up for the barrage of questions that should begin in the morning about Christmas!
